Russia Blocks UN Sanctions Monitoring End
The United Nations Security Council has failed to pass a resolution that would have ended the monitoring of sanctions against North Korea over its nuclear program. Russia vetoed the resolution, which was supported by the other 14 members of the council.
North Korea Closes Borders
